The work
PartyPPL runs on its own servers: Ubuntu machines at OVHcloud with a reserve server that takes over when the main one fails, Caddy as the web server, Cloudflare for DNS, proxying and protection, our own mail server and our own security operations centre (SOC). Traffic is uneven: quiet during the week, and on Friday and Saturday night everybody opens the agenda and their tickets at once.
As a network administrator you make sure that always works:
- You manage the servers, the network and the firewalls, and keep them up to date.
- You watch availability and speed, and improve the failover and the backups.
- You manage Cloudflare (DNS, WAF, tunnels) and the team's access.
- You pick up alerts from the SOC and handle incidents, together with the team.
- You write down how everything works, so someone else can do it too.
You work with what is there and make it a little better every time, in small steps that can be checked.
What you bring
- Experience running Linux servers (preferably Ubuntu) in production.
- Knowledge of networking: DNS, TLS, firewalls, VPNs or tunnels.
- Experience with Cloudflare or a similar CDN and WAF.
- You work safely and precisely, and write down what you do.
- You can be reached during an outage, also outside office hours, on a rota we make together.
Experience with Caddy or nginx, systemd, monitoring and backups, or a certification such as CCNA or LPIC, is a plus.
What we offer
Salary: to be agreed, in line with your experience and hours.
- Remote work, with a fair on-call rota.
- An infrastructure that is still small enough to really know, and big enough to learn from.
- Room to help shape how it is set up.
- Guest list spots and tickets for nights we work with, where possible.
